Donate Life Virginia is committed to save the lives of Virginians by working to increase the number of registered donors in the Commonwealth and promoting organ, eye and tissue donation and transplantation.

In April 2009 Governor Tim Kaine signed SB949 into law naming the Virginia Donor Registry and Public Awareness Fund. The Fund was established to consist of gifts, grants, and donations. In addition this legislation created a method by which any applicant conducting a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) transaction using electronic means may make a voluntary contribution to the Virginia Donor Registry and Public Awareness Fund. Any contributions to this fund will allow Donate Life Virginia to continue to compile, maintain and modify the statewide donor registry www.save7lives.org. In addition, any donations will go directly to programs aimed at increasing organ, eye and tissue donation.
